Edition #01
TRANSFORMING THE NATURE OF LEADERSHIP
The One Earth Leadership Consortium (OELC) is a collective of purpose-driven companies providing strategic leadership development opportunities for their leaders. We work in partnership with the natural world and each other to explore and enquire, engage in multi-level systems thinking, focus on a larger inclusive-purpose, and to reimagine models of business, leadership, and organizational value creation within a fully holistic and life-affirming context.
FOCUSED DEVELOPMENT FOR COLLECTIVE IMPACT: ONE EARTH LEADERSHIP COACHING
Coaching is at the heart of leadership development. It helps us to understand ourselves more deeply so we can effect positive change within ourselves, our organizations, and society. By building our self-awareness, we are better able to leverage our gifts, develop our unrealized potential, and grow our leadership effectiveness. Additionally, coaching builds our capability to relate in authentic and courageous ways.
At OELC, we also place special emphasis on assisting leaders to appreciate the whole system to which they belong so they can envision purpose, strategies, and cultures that contribute to a regenerative future. In these challenging times, we understand the complexities of organizational life and are committed to providing leaders with a safe space for the deep reflection, inquiry, and exploration needed to truly enable transformation.
OELC coaches have extensive experience coaching senior leaders in complex global organizations and utilize trusted developmental frameworks and processes to guide the coaching process. We offer individual and team coaching and can also pair coaching with consultancy to support organizational and systemic transformation.
MAKING LEADERS BETTER STRATEGISTS AND STRATEGISTS BETTER LEADERS: ONE EARTH LEADERSHIP PROGRAM LAUNCHES NOVEMBER 2024
The One Earth Leadership Program offers a holistic approach to leadership development for purpose-driven companies and individuals. We support participants in developing a deep understanding of the interconnectedness of business, society, and the planet.
We create a space for the generation of fresh ideas, innovative solutions, and novel approaches to leadership and business practices by questioning both conventional wisdom and the fundamental assumptions we carry about each. By emphasizing dialogue, engagement, and immersive experiences, the program facilitates a dynamic learning environment and creates opportunities for collaboration and knowledge-sharing among participants, ultimately enhancing their strategic capability to address complex challenges effectively.
We assist leaders in expanding their leadership vision, building strategic capacity and multi-level systems thinking, and creating cultures that thrive on purpose. In doing so, we equip leaders to navigate complexity and drive positive change in their organizations and beyond.
By integrating personal development into the program's curriculum, we elevate leaders' strategic capability and support their growth as individuals, empowering them to lead with authenticity, empathy, and courage.
The flagship program offers both on-site and virtual components with multiple modes of engagement: seminars, learning expeditions, coaching, workshops, and peer learning circles. Our residential hubs in Northern Europe and the Western Cape of South Africa provide meaningful immersion opportunities.
We invite leaders who are open to explore and inquire, engage with a diverse set of perspectives, and desire to focus on a larger inclusive and regenerative purpose to join us on the One Earth journey. The first module launches 18-22 November in the Cape of South Africa at the regenerative retreat center of Boschendal.
LEARNING TOGETHER: ONE EARTH DIALOGUES
One Earth Dialogues are a transformative process that intertwines personal development with broader concerns of a community and the world at large. They serve as a catalyst for deeper understanding and connection among participants, paving the way for meaningful exploration and reframing of perspectives.
One Earth Dialogues are not mere problem-solving sessions, but rather, they offer unique opportunities to explore topics and their relationship to the people and places we gather. This distinct approach sets them apart from traditional discussions or debates.
The most recent One Earth Dialogue took place in Johannesburg, South Africa, at Beechwood Gardens. This beautiful setting, with its old-growth trees in the heart of the city, provided a serene and nurturing environment. We recognized how the setting itself influenced the dynamics of dialogue, underscoring the interconnectedness between our internal states and external surroundings.
Senior leaders from Bidvest Group, Cadena, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Halls Group, Idea Engineers, PMX, Rand Mutual Assurance, Saint-Gobain, Transcend, and Vulacoin deeply engaged in the dialogues.
As we shared insights from our own stories the space began to expand with interest and curiosity for each other and the themes we were touching upon -- the value of learning to leadership, the work of transformation in reimagining the purpose of business, the nature of connection and service to stakeholders, and how these all build upon and relate to each other.
These interdependencies became more readily apparent as we talked about growth and transformation. Collectively, we found that transformation began with our own leadership and reexamining our purpose and our capability to live that purpose, which in turn led to reframing our organization's purpose and its role within a multi-stakeholder ecosystem.
To give but one example, Rand Mutual Assurance transformation journey was illustrated by Kyle Fredericks, Group Head of Strategy. As a company that administers workman's compensation programs for the mining and minerals industries of South Africa, Kyle illustrated how Rand Mutual has taken that a step further in supporting development projects that provide life-altering pathways for injured and pensioned miners, their families, and communities through the creation of hydroponic food production systems that is shaping their next career and creating healthier communities.
